Pontoon at WickedBet

Pontoon is part of WickedBet Originals, a collection of provably fair games built in-house. Every round uses a cryptographic seed pair that you can verify after the game. The house edge and payout tables are public.

You play against the dealer with a goal of reaching 21 without going over. Two differences change the game: both dealer cards stay face down until you finish, and a Five Card Trick (five cards without busting) beats any regular hand except a Pontoon. You receive two cards face up. The dealer receives two cards face down.

Play Pontoon

Play with Crypto

Pontoon runs on crypto. Deposit Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT or other supported coins. Bets settle from your balance and winnings credit at round close. No currency conversion.

Provably Fair

Before each round, the server generates a hashed seed. You can set your own client seed. After the round, the server seed is revealed so you can independently verify the result was determined before your bet. This is a standard provably fair implementation using SHA-256.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Pontoon differ from Blackjack?

Both dealer cards are face-down, Pontoon (natural 21) pays 2:1 instead of 3:2, a five-card trick (5 cards totalling 21 or under) also pays 2:1, the dealer hits on soft 17, and players must hit on 14 or below. These rules produce a 99.6% RTP.

What is a five-card trick?

Any hand consisting of five cards that totals 21 or less. It pays 2:1 regardless of the card values, making it the second-best hand after Pontoon (natural 21).

Are the side bets the same as Blackjack?

Yes. All eight side bets are identical: 21+3, Perfect Pairs, Lucky Ladies, Buster Blackjack, Lucky Lucky, Royal Match, Match the Dealer, and Super Sevens. Same paytables, same evaluation rules.

How does Millionaire Mode work in Pontoon?

Identically to Blackjack. A $1 side bet evaluates the first 6 cards from the shoe for the spade straight flush (9 through Ace of spades). All 6 matching = $1,000,000.

Why is the RTP higher than Blackjack?

The 2:1 payout on Pontoon (vs 3:2 for blackjack) and the five-card trick bonus compensate for the disadvantage of the dealer's face-down cards. Under optimal strategy, these rules combine for a 99.6% RTP.

Is Pontoon provably fair?

Yes. SHA-256 commitment ensures dealer cards are locked before your bet. The face-down cards are not selected after the fact; they are determined by the pre-committed seed.
